Road Infrastructure Development Projects in Yatta/Kwavonza Ward

Hon. Mark Nding’o, MCA for Yatta/Kwavonza Ward, has spearheaded multiple road infrastructure initiatives to improve connectivity, safety, and accessibility across the ward. These projects include tarmacking works in Kiusyani Town, road opening initiatives in Kwavonza, Nyaanyaa/Ndunguni, and Kanyonyoo villages, as well as slabs and culvert construction along the Kyainya–Tungiiya (Ilika) Kyosini Road in Ilika Village, and the drift construction at Kitalinga Stream in Makusya Village.

Ongoing Tarmacking: Kiusyani Town

The tarmacking project in Kiusyani Town aims to:

  • Eliminate dust and improve air quality
  • Enhance road safety for motorists and pedestrians
  • Improve accessibility and transport efficiency
  • Boost local business activities

Road Opening Initiatives

Site handovers were conducted for the opening of:

  • Munyini Road in Kwavonza Village
  • Kalima Road in Nyaanyaa/Ndunguni Village
  • Katothya–Nzeveni Road at Mwakini in Kanyonyoo Village These projects aim to improve accessibility, promote development, and ensure residents can easily reach schools, markets, and health facilities.

Slabs and Culverts: Kyainya–Tungiiya (Ilika) Kyosini Road

The project involves constructing slabs and culverts to:

  • Strengthen the road structure and prevent erosion
  • Facilitate safe water drainage during rains
  • Improve travel safety and efficiency The handover ceremony involved key stakeholders including KRC engineers and local leaders.

Drift Construction: Kitalinga Stream, Makusya Village

The drift construction at Kitalinga Stream seeks to:

  • Provide a safe and reliable crossing point
  • Improve mobility within Makusya and neighboring areas
  • Support access to schools, markets, and other essential services

The collective implementation of tarmacking, road opening, slabs and culverts, and drift construction marks a significant milestone in upgrading road infrastructure within the ward. Through collaboration between leadership, technical teams, and communities, these projects are set to deliver lasting benefits for all residents.
